Fundraiser
with Sakya Trinley Ling
Saturday
6th September from 6pm - "The
Tank Man"
Sakya
Trinley Ling - Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Activities
group is proud to bring you an extraordinary and
historical documentary made by PBS in America 'The
Tankman.' Along with the film, one of the guest
speakers for the evening will be secretary for the
Federation for a Democratic China (FDC) , Mr Tao
Wenhong. FDC advocates the democratization of China,
opposes the current regime and supports human rights.
Also appearing is Mr Tenpa Dudak, spokesperson from
the Tibetan community, plus a special performance
by the Blue Mountains Choir 'Crowd Around'.
Sakya
Trinley Ling has actively participated in the 'Race
for Tibet' campaign which has aimed to make the
Beijing Olympics a catalyst for change in Tibet.
This evening is also part of this campaign. The
Olympics will soon end - yet the struggle for human
rights, freedom and an end to the persecution and
violence in Tibet and China itself is far from over.
It has become obvious through the media that in
spite of China's best efforts to showcase themselves
in a positive light, their intolerance of freedom
of expression and information has become very transparent.
This film is an outstanding revelation of the impact
of a lone figure who came to be known as 'the tankman'
and his world wide symbolic power. The film also
clearly accounts the details of the Tianamen square
massacre and the direct relationship of these events
to China's rise to economic power.
This
will be an exceptional evening not to be missed.
As always, all profits made from the evening go
to Dharma. Sakya Trinley Ling will also have their
famous Chai and cakes for sale as well as a raffle
and Dharma shop. For any more information phone
