Synopsis:

This brand-new Cinderella ballet, choreographed by the internationally acclaimed Christopher Wheeldon, was premiered by the Dutch National Ballet at the Amsterdam Music Theatre in December 2012. 

Wheeldon is creating an enchanting story of Cinderella, based on the version by the Brothers Grimm. In Wheeldon's version, Cinderella's tears grow into an enormous magical tree. Along with four spirits, the tree grants all Cinderella’s wishes. Wheeldon gives depth to the characters in his ballet. Cinderella is portrayed not only as a victim, and the prince plays a bigger role than usual.

The production will have some very special stage effects. Wheeldon and Crouch have opted for an almost cinematographic approach that will turn the thousand-year-old fairytale into a unique 21st-century experience.
